" For our blessings we thank the Goddess

And think on those who have much less

No food on their table , no bed to rest in

No roof to shelter then from rain

Good health and happiness , good people around them

No-One and nothing to ease their pain

Let us give to those in need

With heart and pocket and through and deed "

At Mabon the festival of the autumnal equinox , day and night are equal in length and as the Pagan wheel turns we see the old Sun God dying. Mother Earth , the Goddess , rests as she carries the fetus of the a new Sun God. This is the second harvest and a time to give thanks for the harvest of the year past and think about the coming winter. The nights to come will be long and the days short. The soup pot becomes a standard feature in our kitchens an we make use of the grains and vegetables that we have grown and stored to last us through the winter.
